The highly-acclaimed quintet 311, has been a fixture in the modern rock circuit since achieving their moderate breakthrough in 1993. The band’s debut effort, Music, charted in the U.S. Heatseekers chart. Through this album, 311 was able to drop the highly beloved single “Do You Right,” which was their first song to enter the Alternative singles chart. By 1995, 311 was all over the airwaves. Their self-titled third album spawned “Down,” which became the biggest hit of their career. The platinum-selling single was later followed by the equally terrific track “All Mixed Up,” which was number 4 on the Alternative charts.
Just when fans thought 311 was already in their prime, the band continued to drop staple after staple, many of which performed incredibly on the charts. In 2004, the band covered The Cure’s hit single, “Love Song,” as part of the official soundtrack of feature film 50 First Dates. The song topped the alternative charts and became the only 311 song to enter the Billboard Hot 100. Aside from their rip-roaring hits during the 2000s, the band also dropped several later works, such as Stereolithic, Mosaic, and Voyager.
