The band began in a serendipitous life moment when Matt Quin (vocals, guitar) and Sam Cooper (guitar) were reunited in 2016. Their persevering love for music since high school became their glue to get together and write together. They named themselves as Mt. Joy as an ode to the mountain in Valley Forge National Park, a place where it’s said that the duo have learned to write songs at. In 2016, they wrote their first single “Astrovan”.

The band grew with the addition of three more members: Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), Jackie Miclau (keyboards), and Michael Byrnes (bass). The next year featured three singles of which one of the songs “Silver Lining” placed at the top of the Billboard Triple A charts, cementing their place in the music scene.

From performing at renowned festivals like Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Bonnaroo to touring with The Lumineers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, The Revivalists, and The Head and the Heart, the quintet has carved an impressive path. Their captivating performances have been featured on shows hosted by Stephen Colbert, CBS Morning, Samantha Bee, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and Conan.

Mt. Joy is also a streaming sensation who has over half a billion streams to their name. Mt. Joy has also received recognition from NPR, Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Line of Best Fit, and more.

Their third full-length album “Orange Blood” was released last year, 2022. The collective response to their songs describe an elevated, surging and emotional, psychedelic and expansive feeling, awareness, and appreciation of the moment.

This 2023, Mt. Joy is currently embarking on their annual tour. They will return to the US by July where they’ll perform in the Marymoor Amphitheater after an international concert in London, Manchester, and Dublin. The concert will be presented by Seattle Theater Group as part of the Marymoor Park Summer Concert Series.

Since 2013, Marymoor Park has been a home to the annual Summer Concert Series driving revenue to support operations for the King County Parks’ facilities and public lands. It is easily the best open-air concerts in Seattle with its outdoor venue, scenic environment and 5000 people capacity. You can expect jamming to your heart’s content, rain or shine whether you’re in front or at the back by the two grass mounds that form a natural amphitheater.

An outdoor summer concert with Mt. Joy is a one-of-a-kind breathtaking experience. Tickets are currently selling out fast. Hurry up before the tickets are sold out!
